Children's Services - Family Resources Center

Family Resource Center provides information, education, and support to families with children who have special needs. Staff assists families in gaining access to private and public resources, and promote parent to parent support through networking and outreach activities. The center helps to increase public awareness of disabilities through educational presentations and a resource library of books, videos, and articles.

The Family Resource Center has recently completed its Disability Awareness Program funded by the United Way of the Bay Area. This grant allowed the Family Resource Center to travel to different public elementary schools in the county with a program that increases understanding of disabilities. This program made use of The Family Resource Center's "Kids on the Block" puppets which demonstrated different disabilities through life-size puppets.
